Orthodontics

As in children's orthodontics, the utmost importance is placed on the diagnostic phase, which allows for the optimisation of treatment according to the objectives to be achieved. It includes treatments for growth that has already completed (i.e., after 18 years) and has no age limits, provided there are adequate conditions of dental, gingival, and bone health.

Treatments have a greater variability in time, ranging from 6 to 32 months depending on whether they involve reduced aesthetic realignment, pre-prosthetic treatments, complete orthodontic treatments, or combined surgical-orthodontic treatments.

Orthodontic therapy in adults uses either fixed appliances or invisible aligners.

Treatment with the Invisalign method involves the use of transparent aligners that gradually realign misaligned teeth. The aligners are removable, allowing the patient to take them off during meals and oral hygiene manoeuvres. The aligners are progressively changed during corrective treatment. It's the available method, decidedly more aesthetic.

Below is a case of adult orthodontics, resolved with traditional fixed appliances.

The position of the tooth has caused several episodes of abscesses accompanied by pain.
Flap elevation and separation of the element were necessary for removal.
The patient with fixed braces. Note that aesthetic devices can also be inserted, which the patient had not chosen in this case.
The resolved case, with great satisfaction from the patient.
Example of invisible aligners. The aligners must be worn in sequence.
