THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RIGHT APPROACH: THE FIRST

chidren

For us, the psychological approach represents the fundamental step towards a serene and uncomplicated treatment.
This approach is based on play because nothing that the dentist uses should scare the child. So, the drill will never be a drill but a "water pistol," and anaesthesia will never be an injection but, miraculously, a drawing that, each time, the child will decide.
Showing the procedures to the child, explaining them, and playing with them, eliminates the anxiety of the young patient and increases trust in the operator... and when the approach has been effective, it will be your son/daughter, impatiently asking you, "when are we going back to the dentist???"
Sometimes, if deemed appropriate, especially in the case of children traumatised by previous negative experiences, we use conscious sedation using nitrous oxide (see "Services" section: sedative analgesia and conscious sedation).
